Help Us Help
-
Hospice volunteers provide care and companionship to patients and enable the primary caregivers to take a break
from the responsibilities of caring for a loved one.
-
Just a few minutes of your time can make a huge difference in the life of another.
- The most important care given by a hospice volunteer is to "be there." Sometimes family members and friends stop
visiting and calling, because they don't know what to say or do. "What can I do to help?" is a question many patients
need to hear from hospice volunteers.
-
Volunteers may choose to work either with patients or in the hospice office. Those working with patients and families
receive special training, and references are closely checked.
- The volunteer's involvement with the patient and family
depends on the volunteer's skills, interests, availability and relationship with the patient and caregiver.
- Volunteers may
also assist with clerical duties and with special events.
- A number of new volunteer opportunities are now available
with Livingston Hospice Associates.
Please check our site regularly for volunteer opportunities and updates on our scheduled events.
